Honouring a Legacy: The Inaugural Rose Thompson Foundation Charity Dinner and Ball
On Saturday, November 2nd, I had the honour of attending the inaugural Rose Thompson Foundation (RTF) Charity Dinner and Ball at the Nottingham Council House. Joining me for the evening was Lisa Robinson of Bright Ideas Nottingham. This event was especially meaningful as it paid tribute to the incredible life and legacy of Dr. Rose Thompson, a dear friend and an unwavering supporter of my work. Her encouragement and belief in me have been a lasting source of inspiration, making this celebration all the more personal.
A Night to Remember
The black-tie event marked a year since the Celebration of Life for Dr. Rose and celebrated 15 years of the foundation’s impactful work supporting communities affected by cancer. Guests were treated to a warm welcome with cocktails on arrival, followed by a delightful Caribbean-inspired menu—a true reflection of Rose’s vibrant spirit. The meal included a flavourful starter, a mouthwatering main course, and a cheese board to finish.
Live entertainment set the tone for the evening, with the phenomenal Davina Songbird delivering a stunning performance and the Nottingham Community Choir lifting everyone’s spirits with their harmonious voices. The energy in the room was electrifying, as attendees came together to honor a woman who touched so many lives.
Carrying the Legacy Forward
One of the evening’s highlights was a heartfelt speech from Lindsay Thompson, Rose’s husband and the CEO of the foundation. He spoke passionately about Rose’s mission to combat cancer inequalities, born out of her personal and professional experiences with the disease. Lindsay’s reflections underscored the foundation’s commitment to transforming Rose’s vision into actionable change.
The event also unveiled exciting plans for the future, including the establishment of a state-of-the-art cancer resource centre in Rose’s name. This ambitious project will serve as a lasting tribute to her tireless efforts and will provide vital support to those in need.
A Community United
This inaugural dinner and ball was not only a celebration of Rose’s life but also a testament to the strength of the community. It was inspiring to see so many people come together, united by their admiration for Rose and their dedication to continuing her work.
For me, the night was deeply moving—a reminder of the profound impact one individual can have. Dr. Rose Thompson’s legacy shines brightly, illuminating a path of hope, resilience, and collective action. The Rose Thompson Foundation has ensured her work will continue to make a difference, and I am grateful to have been part of this special event.
As I left the Council House that night, I carried with me a renewed sense of purpose and a deep appreciation for the power of passion turned into action. Here’s to many more years of the Rose Thompson Foundation making an impact and honouring the remarkable woman who inspired it all.
