Health is Wealth 2025: A Community Success Story
Held Saturday, 25th January at Take One Studios, Nottingham
The third annual Health is Wealth event took place on Saturday, 25th January 2025 at Take One Studios, and it was a vibrant celebration of health, empowerment, and community spirit. With strong attendance from local families, young people, health professionals, and entrepreneurs, the day brought together over 100 attendees for a lively and educational experience.
A Day of Energy and Engagement
The event was filled with interactive workshops, nutritious food, music, and movement. From smooth grooves to smoothie stalls, the energy was high throughout the day. Young men in particular engaged in powerful conversations, asking questions and showing interest in how to take control of their health.
The stalls—featuring local self-employed traders, NHS representatives, and charity organisations including Orchid—offered everything from health drinks and supplements to hands-on health checks and advice.
Talking It Straight About Prostate
A key moment of the day was the Orchid Community Champions’ micro-workshop, “Talk It Straight About Prostate.” Delivered twice during the event, it focused on raising awareness among men—particularly African Caribbean men—about prostate cancer.
The Champions, all local men with lived experience, shared personal insights, demystified PSA testing, and equipped attendees with confidence to speak to their GPs. Their honesty and openness created a powerful, peer-led learning environment that many praised as a highlight of the day.
Lisa Jackson Reflects
Lisa Jackson of Mon0lisa Productions, who has supported the Champions’ work for over four years, reflected on the success:
“The day had a real buzz. The Champions were incredible—bold, honest, and impactful. Seeing young men engaged and asking questions shows we’re moving in the right direction. This event proves that community-led health work changes lives.”
A Powerful Partnership
Organised in collaboration with Take One Studios, led by Courtney Rose, the event highlighted the studio’s role as not just a creative space, but a community hub. Recently rated a ‘Good Provider’ by Ofsted, Take One continues to make a positive difference for Nottingham’s youth.
Health is Wealth 2025 proved that when community, culture, and care come together, real conversations and real change happen.
Early action saves lives—and this event helped start many of those actions
